    • The film did indeed change a lot of lives then and even now, still a classic. I live in London now, was a Govan Mod from 81 and hung about the Scene and Lindella. I've got to know an old mod...

  • Hi Robert thanks for the photos and sharing the good times with us,if you see Prenty tell him I said a big hello, he knows me as Scissors, from our school days and The Scene Club, fantastic to see the original Cranhill and Sighthill Mods again, whatever happened to Davie Peacock? You know the last time I met him he was into Frankie Goes To Hollywood, how long ago was that,eh?A big thanks to Div Malcolm for all his help and we hope you enjoy the slideshow Rober, all the best, god bless.
  • just to let everyone know that the Jim Glass, glasgow mods photos are now added to the photos section, it was under Div Malcolm, now I have combined the Div photos with the jim glass photos... we have over 200 photos now being served...

thanks to everyone, keep them coming.
  • Hello Charlie

Thanks for that mate you've made an aging Mod feel very happy and your Web-site was the inspiration to go up to my Mum's loft and dig out the stuff. I had more but over the years they have disappeared.
You're music choice is spot on as we all loved the film and the Jam apart, Secret Affair was the next best thing to the Who at the time. Can remember arriving into Ayr and Time for action was coming out of one of the Pubs. Everytime I hear it I remember the mass of Scooters and Mods parading about. As usual the papers got a story and got their teeth into it, but it all made for growing up with good memories.
I haven't seen any of the Sighthill/Cranhill guys for many years although they were good days remembered at the Rooster bar, Scene Club on a Saturday and the Barras on a Sunday afternoon.
Hard to say wether today or Yesterday is the best, however I suppose the difference now is I wake up in a tent with a hangover and not on someones floor. Still got my parker should I need it though.
Davie Peacock was into the new romantic scene the last time I saw him as with a few guys of that time. Hope some of the guys get to know about your web-site and leave a message or two.
Thanks again mate and I owe you a few beers.
    Robert
  • Robert, that Charlie can be a very convincing customer, his knowledge and thirst for the sixties and mod scene is now here to be seen for all who is interested. We are both very happy to make available and have a platform that hopefully makes everyone have a wee voice of nostalgia and a place for reminiscing.
At least now all the glasgow mods will never be forgotten and have a place to connect through, almost like our own wee virtual bandstand......
  • Hello Charlie

Forgot to mention that I'll let Prenty know you were asking for him. He's out and about on a LD scooter. Met up with him in as many years at the egg run last year and again at Kelso.
I'm a bit confused about who puts all this web-site together, however it's the best thing to happen and although the past few years i've got into the Northern soul scene I do prefer the 60's R&B; and pop stuff.
    Cheers
    Robert
  • Robert I think Charlie has an army of internet mods building all this information out, I always remember no even the guiness book of records could keep up with his vast library of general knowledge and information. but what matters is we are putting smiles back on peoples faces and thats making it all worth while and thats really what matters most.
  • Cheers for the reply Mr McTear,it makes all the effort and research Jimmy"Dr Evil" and me have put into the Glasgow Mod website we only hope to inspire Mods, like us to get involved,Prenty got an LD Scooter? I remember when he use to drink bottles of "LD"!!! ha ha!,only kidding Prenty.A million thanks for your photos, their priceless, cheers for trusting us with them.Someone told me not so long ago,Geordie Clarke, another brilliant Mod from Bellrock Street, had joined the Foreign Legion, years agoafter the Scene Club closed,I can see him now dressed as Beau Geste on his Scooter backwheel spinning in a sand dune shouting in French,"My Giro,my Giro,my giro for a camel and a spade!" ha ha! Hope that puts a smile on your face, I don't drink, but you can buy me a Latte next time we meet, all the best Robert, adieu ra noo!
  • Hello Charlie

Remember Geo Clarke very well and he help me get my old 150 Super on the road. He did join the Foriegn legion but like all the others I don't know where he is today. Prenty's LD is in the Easter Egg run photo I sent and is on the web-site. it's cream with suede seats. Looks the part. All the best mate and to Jimmy keep up the good work.
    Cheers
    Robert
  • Great pics robert glad to see some old faces and some very young ones. Will see you and Mhari on sat. We are the mods!
Charlie still trying to see about some cine film of scene club regulars filmed on scooters at the dock side when wee Rex fell off his scooter and cut his back it was then shown in the scene club later.
    All the best Davie Malcolm
p.s keep up the good work James
  • Cheers for that Mr Malcolm, I can remember seeing the cine footage at The Scene of Rex showing off his injuries, that would be a trip and a half to see it again! A huge thanks Mr Malcolm Jimmy and I appreciate all your help,WE ARE THE MODS! God bless.
  • Hi Div, thanks again for taking the time to source the rare stuff and thanks for the encouragement, running a large website does take up some time. I am delighted though that a lot of folks are getting some enjoyment out of it.... Also at least now we have an outlet to show the youngsters what it is all about and help with an alternative today. Let charlie know when you have the cine footage and he will get it over to me for converting, we have all the trickery and machinery to take anything and have it displayed on the website........
  • Robert, great photos old and new. Always happy o see my scooter on the net. Hope to see you on 13 04 08 for a run to C C S C event down Greenock way.

    ATB Paul V

    PS What a great site.
  • hi paul, thanks for the compliment, its been hard work, glad you enjoy the website.....
  • hello to rab mctear east end mods, cammy now living in thailand, still got the memories mate.cheers
  • Thanks for these photos Robert, picture 17 is a belter, mind you
they all are, just to see the Auld Faces of Cranhill and Sighthill,
    memorable. Good times indeed!
  • Great photo's,scooters and newspaper clippings, its good to see other peoples memories.
  • I'v looked at these photo's loads of times but somehow I have not posted a comment on them.

I remember all the guys from Sighthill (obviously) and its great that someone actually took a few snaps from that time. Everything that we took for granted is changing. Sadly some of the Sighthill Glory Boys are now no longer with us, and two of the blocks of flats at the bottom of Sighthill are also no longer there. I spoke to Rab at the run out and told you, but I'll say again on site that the photo's are great, and well done for sending them in for us all to enjoy. Also to Jimmy it is a good choice of music as Secret Affair were very popular with most people then.
  • I suppose I'm going too have to scan Charlies photos now of the EEM does this site really need more pictures of Mr Charles ?

Great photos especially as I can identify the background in a few.
  • No more photies of Charlie please. He is already in about 600 of Jackie's. The site will surely collapse with being overburdened Li Li !
  • Just to let you all know NG is doing my last set of photo's and just to ease your minds there's none of Charlie or Sting just me and my EK friends.
  • Am I jackie ! thanks for telling me........
  • not sure if that is me in the photie you sent over jim..
  • It is Jimmy, Jackie even wrote your name on the back of the picture haha
  • whats the date of the photie ?
  • Just for you Jimmy heres the info.

EK Boating Pond, 15th June 1984.

    Alison, Davie, Sharon, Nicky, Jimmy
  • Now I know what happened 2 days before my birthday and my scooter packed up....
  • Surely you must recognise yourself in the photo Jimmy, or is it one of these low light numbers ? And well done Jackie, for managing to take some photos that do not feature Mr Murphy.
  • Its kinda strange how everyone has photos of me, I have a handfull
myself, there's more photos of Sting in Jackies photos than me, the
competition is hotting up!!! Sting has a Scooter named after him picture
    304 in Jackie's photos, I don't bah humbug!!
  • ...and thats including Stewart Street as well Charlie !

Wouldnt it be nice if we could obtain a copy of your mugshot haha
  • Here that would be a whole website on it's own, ha ha! Mind you
Livi has his own set of spare front door keys to let himself into most
Police Stations in Scotland!!!! Ho, ho!!
  • I have a funny feeling that the SS mob would have destroyed any photographic evidence of their dark deeds in case it incriminated them in the future.
  • Lots of memories in these photos then and recently, cheers Robert, hope life is treating you well, we are the Mods!!!
