  • Charlie · 1 year ago
Wow!!! Ah the memories come flooding back, never thought I would see photos like these again my lifetime, thanks Jackie, Davie and Jimmy, a labour of love gone into getting these up on the site, I am overwhelmed, totally, all those carefree happy times, and wonderful friendships.

amazing pics...when I started my scootaboy life we started hanging oot in the Olympia, was there teh night it closed down, what mad nights in EK... loved and lost, faught, laughed and cried....pure teenage kicks stuff haha....ahh to be young again.... what happened to big Shaun, and why did so many young mods go fo taches when it was simply not on.... hahaha
  • N.G. MODS · 1 year ago
Gonzo, I never understood the tache thing myself, even to this day I don't think I could grow one. How many Mods do you see with a tache in the Mods book, was it an 8ts thing ? or was it a coming of age thing ? I can't answer that as I wasn't part of the tache brigade haha
  • Chris C · 1 year ago
I was never a tash person, and neither was any of the guys I went about with. In fact it was written in tablets of stone that all NG Mods were barred from even thinking about such attrocities.

I suppose if it was good enough for Freddy Mercury then those who liked that look should not be slagged off. On second thoughts I don't think we should go down that road.
  • Janny · 1 year ago
Personally not into taches and felt they didn't go well with the look, mods are clean cut in my book.
  • jackie · 1 year ago
Hi TYB im from EK i use to go to the olympia every sunday night till it closed a good start to my mod days i also use to go out with Shaun not sure as yet what has happened to him.

  • jackie · 1 year ago

  • stevie fae cranhill · 1 year ago
As i said jackie my memory isn't so great - but i'm sure if you were in that Olympia place you would have looked equally great!

I remember in that hall was the first time i had ever actually seen someone put talc on the floor to dance - seemed pretty cool at the time...
  • N.G. MODS · 1 year ago
Jackie, just had a drive through EK tonight seeing as it was a lovely summers evening here in Glasgow and I haven't been in that neck of the woods for ages. Still plenty of roundabouts though.

Thats good too hear Jackie, hopefully we can meet up at some point for a blether ?

Did Lorraine Kelly not used to go to the Olympia ? just thought I would ask !!!
  • Charlie · 1 year ago
I had loads of great nights at The Olympia, one particular night I was "pepped" up dancing to a song call "The Hitch Hike" with Jimmy The Mod, it was on the "Ready Steady Go" album, released at that time. Always remember Fitzie from the EEM giving it laldy to The Beats "Tears Of A Clown" and a massive singalong to "The Kids Are Alright" by the 'Orrible Who! Blissful nights of untapped energy, Jeez at times we were mental, but in a good way. It was high spirited, never a dull moment. Here Stevie are you sure it wasn't me wearing those red hipsters?? You foxy stud, thought you dumped me for good, ho ho!
  • jackie · 1 year ago
Lorraine kelly went to the same school as me why?dont think she went to the olympia bit before our time.
  • N.G. MODS · 1 year ago

Hi Mr Honeythief, welcome to our wee website, good
to see there are stll some E.K Mods around, I can't
believe they are still putting more roundabouts in E.K!!!

Unbelievable, whats that all about?Maybe they are being
"accquired" from other Cities, is nothing sacred anymore.
First our records, now the roundabouts. I fear for the future
of our Zebra Crossings, your welcome to the Speed Cameras
you can "accquire" as many as you want, LI,LI!!
