Thanks for the reply James, My name is Tony Hillhouse but couldnt get Tonyh as my addy here lol . I hung around with Billy when we were both at school he was in year above me and our parents knew each other,I just bought myself a vespa at the weekend trying to recapture my youth!!! and its brought all the great memories flooding back. Especially those about Perch he was one of the genuine ones out there and I do know what you mean about still being missed to this day !!

Hully that's the same Billy Parker I knew big cheesy grin and always a great pal to everyone. He is sadly missed to this day..... there are some good photos with him on his 50 special at the bandstand with a few others.

Hi there new member here just joined and was looking at the story about Billy Parker at the bandstand, I pressume this is the same Billy I knew as Perch ? He was a good mate at gar-t sec school and had the biggest grin in the world and the bandiest legs to match massive influence on me when at school and after !!!!!!!

Dunno if anyone remembers the xmas cards i made in 86 with a scoot and santa ?
dunno if anyone ever noticed the mouse with a condom on its head in the corner...

spenno was indeed in charge of directions....he had a lil map taped to headset and it was pissing with rain, seems his way to scarborough involved b c n d roads via melrose and ended in galashiels......

it was some time later that i found out the place (vintners) had a certain "reputation". probably they were the only place that would take us...i mean would you hire a pub to a bunch of strangely dressed 19-20 year olds wanting to drink, play records, dance and generally cavort around?

also I remember 1 do we ran (we being roadrunners)(beep beep) in the gay pub on clyde st, some lass had grabbed my grolsh n ran into ladies with it..never being shy i pursued her in, anyway a few of the lasses were shouting at me to leave..so as i left i banged the tampon machine and it procceded to empty on floor..the girls were filling their bags and soon drunks were trying to light their fags with them and others were finding large swabs of tampon in their pints....

The toilet incident was en route to scarborough 86, we spent about 4 hrs trying to get out of lanarkshire and every1 was having probs with the scoots, my exhaust sheared, spennos electrics kept going and various other fekups...we got to melrose at 10pm and needed petrol..everywhere was shut for the nite..so we bedded down in public toilets...
next morn we awoke to find a rugby match starting in field next to us....

I would be absolutely amazed if the 'cool Kev' tag was not done with large heaps of irony. I never met anyone who felt he was actually cool. But I did know a lot who felt he was the polar opposite. Maybe it was self penned Li Li !

Does anybody know how he got the nickname? Was it just for a joke?

I can't even remember what he looked like as a mod - i can only ever recall seeing him with his blond flat-top and some kind of scooter gear on.

Is he in fact a DJ now? I do remember him Dj'ing in some clubs in Glasgow in the late 80's. I guess he was a bit aloof although, in his favour, i would add that he never pretended that he didn't know us on the occasions I did see him.

I remember cool Kev standing there like a muppet as two guys from the Castlemilk Bundy pushed over his scooter right in front of him. The word 'cool' must have come at some point after that I imagine.
