as his younger brother Andy was a mod and I just recently found him
We were friends from the Shuffles punk scene. I remember Giggles (Gorbals ) and Rab (Townhead ) from then too I also have a pic of a Mick (Shuffles punk/skinhead ) but not sure if it is the same one ,think he came from Springburn area
but my memory is really bad (due to thyroid problems....... not old age !)
I had a pic of Ronnie,Giggles and Terry (Gorbals Cumbie ) when they were skinheads but think it may be lost now. The punks/ skinheads all hung out together in Shuffles (only place to let us in )
Somehow we all ended gravitating to the Mars Bar , Rooster ,Tech ,Tiffanys ( only on the mod night though) and of course the Scene Club .
a postcard Welshy looks younger now tha he did then,ha ha! Cheers Div for

great days indeed!
with Shorty, John Stracken, Geo Campbell,Hairy dan, rennie, kenzo, ped Smith, etc
I was with you on the Saturday at Scarborough in 1982. If you remember rightly we ditched Brammer because he was drunk and singing dodgy sectarian songs. I think we still owe the Woolworths in Scarborough for those Jam posters. Do you also remember jumping over the wall down at the bandstand to have a go at those Govan Team muppets who were outside of Maxwell Plums giving us all severe stick.
Good to hear you are alive and well mate.
I have some photos to up load from Scarbrough one with me and you on a scooter together posing! What a weekend that was! mad days grazy days indeed. Where you with us when Jamie Brammer kicked over the post card stand with 1,000s of post cards !
Or when some one set fire to the hill were we were drinking and the helicopter came out!!!
i have scanned the Photos I will get them sent in to the site
What are you up to these days mate?
That was definitely a mad weekend, from the beginning to the end. On the Friday night we camped out in some English guys' tent and then wee Shorty and your mob jumped on top of it. The Saturday we crashed in a caravan that we had broken into, and then on the Sunday there was an amazing barny in 'Waves' disco because the Yorkshire scooter brigade did not like how we looked or danced.
I am still staying in the north of the city and I still go to some of the Mod do's. The music never leaves you as far as I am concerned. The Friday Street do's are great, and the annual Mod weekender do's are the best thing since the Scene Club. I am really looking forward to seeing your snaps big man.
Hairy Dan - yep!!
Ped - who can forget!!
The other names i don't know.
Cheers Chris.
If anyone knows how to get in touch wi Rab Smith (Hairy Dan) please let me know. Ta.

In addition to the names I listed the other day there, here are a few Scene Club regulars from all over the city that I have since remembered: Eddie Curran, Big Chris, Mini, and Cod from the north of the city. Pricey, Flemmy, Vinny, Urgi, Mitch, Stu, and Dough from the east end. Melvie, Mincer, Nivey, Jason Sloss, Davie Spears, Dixie, and George from the Saltmarket, who I nearly bought a 200 rally from.
I actually knew Rab Aitch very well. Not as a Mod, but later on. He had a copy of 'Tin Soldier' by the Small Faces in a picture sleeve, and I was always trying to get him to sell it to me, with no success.
I am not so sure when the earliest Mods actually came to be in Glasgow in decent numbers at the revival time. But I do know that Rab, Wass, and Mick were punks and then became Mods. Like myself, they all went to the same school, so they would have known each other for a while when the revival kicked off. I also later knew Giggles, the guy referred to by Modernworld. He also went around with Rab, Wass, and Mick Paton when the Mod revival was in its early days.
It must have been weird before there were no exclusive Mod clubs in the city. There was always a wee bit of trouble with the neds, as well as the skins and punks of the oi persuasion, and the teds and rockabillies as well. In fact I think there might have been a wee bit of trouble with everybody Li Li !
My main claim to fame is that I was in that article in the evening times of the mods in Glasgow green, I was on the back of a lambretta not in the main photo and I was halfed in two in another, I was also pictured along with quite a few other mods in an early edition of the face magazine (i think it was 4 or 5) we were pictured at the loch lomond rock festival (i think it was the second).
For the record, there was various small pockets of mods starting in various areas but the main focus was glasgow city centre and in particular the mars bar (it later became the countdown). Probably because most of the mods were disallusioned punks (punk had become everything it set out not to be and the music had narrowed itself into OI) or solid Jam fans. For me and a couple of pals, the turning point was All Mod Cons, I worked beside a guy who with two pals covered jam songs way back then, in fact it was one of there older brothers (by about two years) who was contacted by the evening times to do the above piece mentioned. He was the first person I ever met who identified himself as a Mod, he was into the who, kinks, etc when all we were into was the jam and punk. All four were at that picture session on the green, only two made the photos, i was on the back of the lambretta not pictured.
The four guys came from Blairdardie - Davy McCormick, Ross ? (hes in the picture), Archie and his brother (also in picture)
Guys that i can remember who hung about mars bar-
Gorbals - John McHugh, Andy Burnett, Davy Corey, Tony taylor, Stewart wilson, Rocky, Giggles (John Rodgers)
Pollock- Wee derek.
Castlemilk- Brian, paul, Jason.
Kings Park- jim Hutton.
Springburn- Mick reilly, Denise Corey and pal Liz.
Townhead - rab aitcheson, Donnie, halkie
easterhouse - george Clark & sister Bell, Chris
Bellahouston - Donald, Brian
Wee eddie (renfrew), John Allan,
There are loads of faces i remember but have no names, they will come flooding back no doubt once this has been posted.
Most of these guys and gals went to mars bar/rooster/glasgow tech/glasgow art school. But most (not all) finished with mod by 1980-81 for various reasons
