    • The film did indeed change a lot of lives then and even now, still a classic. I live in London now, was a Govan Mod from 81 and hung about the Scene and Lindella. I've got to know an old mod...

Rod Stewart - Good Morning Little Schoolgirl

Started by James T · 9 months ago

Born in London, January 10th 1945, after his family moved from Scotland, Roderick David Stewart was typical of many musicans who made the big time in the 1970s. They learnt their trade in the 1960’s and in the case of many of these careers, you can only just start to appreciat ... Continue reading »

  • Well done Jimmy you were quick of the mark there in getting this posted.

After all these years it's still a great tune.
  • depends if I have time between my meetings to bang it out, if I dont do it straight away then its forgotten... All part of the dedication I have to get you all up to speed on posting as editors...
  • Great stuff NG on Rod the Mod. Not many people know this, so its a world exclusive. He (Rod) actually played harmonica on 'My Boy Lollipop' by Millie in 1964. I'll bet everyone is amazed at that revelation.
  • I wasn't sure to add the Millie connection or not, theres so many of these wee stories.

I believe Rod Stewart also got up and sang a few numbers with The Action at a gig in Manchester in 1966. It's all part of the story.......
  • How did you know about the Millie thing NG ? I suppose I must have told you before and forgotten all about it.

Did he not also do a gig at the Sarry Heid, in aid of unemplyed jakeys during the Thatcher era.
  • Cool dude is Rod The Mod, good write up "Jim With The Glasses" or is that Big Chief Swifthauf? LI,LI! Like the track selection, always like to hear something different, brilliant!!
  • I have to agree that Rod the Mod did look pretty cool in the 60s. The pictureof him in the Barnes Mod book with the suit, great hair, and glass bottle of coke is neat. He had a good voice as well it has to be said.
  • For another wanabee pop star in the early 6t's, his early career seems to be well photographed, compared to others ! Must have known a good photo opportunity back then also !
  • I always assumed that he was a well known face around the London club scene before he was famous. But he certainly knew how to look cool, even at a time when fashion was such that most people looked good.
  • Think I read somewhere Rod worked as a Gravedigger, before he wanted to get into music, but doesn't he have a lifestyle a lot of guys would swap their 9-5 jobs with, in the last few decades, having The Faces as his band, what a party Rod The Mod has had, my fave Faces with Rod song Tim Hardin's " Reasons To Believe" There is rare 60's record of Rod singing "Shotgun Wedding" a cover of Roy C's song, that I would love to hear, if anyone has it perhaps you would oblige us with a recording of it for the website. That would be a nugget to hear.
  • well done Jim didn't know much of his early stuff good catchy tunes there
  • Good post NG, Rod the mod is so much more than "Sailing"!!!!
  • Well done Jim on another great article,I love Rod the Mod he's just so cool, great tae hear Good morning little school Girl, not heard it for years,
    keep up the good work.
  • Starting to wonder what happened to you Michelle, it's been all quiet on the West End Front these last few weeks.

I'm sure this got played at a few Mod nights in bygone days !!!
  • Oh I had forgotten that Michelle was one of the elusive WE Mods. How was lord Lucan and where is Fudgie ? Questions only a WE Mod can answer Michelle.
  • You had your collar felt again Chris ? I'm still trying to work out your Gravatar, what in heavens hell is it ............. ?

It looks sooo out of place haha
  • I don't plan on using that one now NG. You would have to be artistic like myself to understand it Li Li !

I have now worked out how to do it, so when and if I want to put one on I am alright with doing it. The one I had planned looks good in its original format, but the colour it looks on the gravatar is not so good.
