If only Lammy. Its okay for you cats that stay down south. But remember to put your back stage pass to good use and talk them into coming up here to 'Mods own Country.' We will even promise them lots of Irn Bru, with maybe a hint of vodka added for effect.

Maybe someone could ask the Small Fakers to come up and do a gig in Glasgow, I'm sure they would and give the Glesga mob a good auld knees up way, Pa-pa-penalee, Mad Jimmy, Here comes the Irn Bru, Get yourself a half, Ogden's nut gone macaroon. Honesty the Small Fakers are fab and it would be great if they could come to Glasgow or maybe even The Petty Hoodlum's could come up, both great bands.

Even before the late 60s days of Humble (mince) Pie the actual Small Faces had their 1966 hit 'My Mince Pie' dedicated to that Glasgow culinery delight. Some people thought it was 'My Minds Eye' but we know better

I think we have now succeeded in proving that the Small Faces were indeed a Glasgow band and that the gig should pay a visit to its spiritual home. Further proof can be found in Ronnie Lane's nickname 'Plonk' which obviously came from his attachment to a famous west of Scotland wine made by monks down south.

Can't forget Stevie Marriotts tribute to Greggs Bakeries, after the Small Faces demise when he formed Humble(Mince)Pie, he never forgot his Glaswegian roots, I am sure "Itchycoo Park" is a reference to a few "ladies of the night" they met in Monteith Row, at Glasgow Green after, a gig at The Barrowland, cause their was a lot of "Itchy coos" there, Monteith Row was famous for them in the 60's!

If I was a Londoner, or even if I stayed in that neck of the woods I would be at the SF convention before you could shake a stick at a plate of jellied eels. Sadly we do not have the concert coming up here so we will have to look on in envy.

I don't actually see why the gig can't come up here. Everyone knows that the Small Faces were a Glasgow band, with Stevie McMarriot, Angus (Kenny) Jones, Ronnie (Ashton) Lane, and the guy without a Scottish name Ian McLagan.It was well known that Lazy Sunday was written about the Glasgow day after the Saturday night before. I'm sure there is a reference to Irn Bru in it somewhere.

I remember a lot of Scooter Boys being knee deep in Depeche Mode mania! Especially certain Globies! lol!, bet you'se are cringing now? Ha ha! I think 3/4 of the bikers jackets worn by them were taken off the bikers we had scrapped with during their Mod days,eh? Wearing their "souvenirs" good times indeed!

Well done for keeping the cool jacket all these years Lammy.I always thought they looked great. I remember during the mid 80s a lot of girls who were into indie music would wear similar jackets. They did not look half as good as the early 80s Mod girls but it showed they at least had some good taste.

I know what you mean about taking the jacket out to a do. Any time I go somewhere and I am wearing a nice jacket I will put it into the cloak room rather than risk some tea leaf taking it home with them. I still do not have a cool suede jacket with a half leather collar though.

I still have one of those suede jackets you describe above (light brown suede, half leather collar, half belted, covered buttons) and it's immaculate, can't wear it to any Mod do's though, as I'm sure it would get nicked! Strictly for the scooter only :-) .

You are spot on there about that woeful song Charlie. I had conveniently forgotten all about that. I also remember 'Pigbag' being played, and I absolutely loathed that record. In fact I would still prefer to be slowly tortured than listen to that crap.

You are also spot on about the attitude of some of the guys who had been Mods but who changed after the demise of the Scene Club. I will not mention any names but some people quickly forgot that they were Mods only a few months previously and started slagging off some of the up and coming young Mods. I never understood this mentality and had more than a few runs ins with good friends over it who had suddenly become scooter boys and now thought Mods were out. Some were wearing leather bikers jackets less than a year after giving people in the street a good kicking just for wearing such provocative clothing.

I can still remember the first time I heard "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" by Culture Club and that was in The Scene Club!! I knew it was the begining of the end, all the fighting only speeded up its demise, I remember the red light bulbs getting smashed up we went out in style eh? I remember getting told to "grow up" by Mods who left after it all ended, they were all wearing the "black" Goth look, the others were dressed in full "Dexy's" Gyppo gear! It was a shock too my system I can tell you now. The people I had looked up to were looking down at me, even remember a certain "Ace Face" dressed up in Hair Cut 100 clobber! walking down the road singing "Greg! Love Plus One!" What a Jesse, he turned out to be! Big "Baggy" Arran Jumper and those awful white woollen "leg warmers" worn over their denims! Soon as I saw him I wanted have his children! There and then, ha ha!

I cannot in all honesty remember if Jason's other half joined him later in the Scene Club Lammy. She was not with him at the pub I am sure about that.

I had forgotten all about the bulbs being broken, but I think it rings a bell now that you mention it. The next time I ran into Jason Sloss was in The Bank pub in Queens Street and he was a rockabilly. I can't imagine for a minute that he could dance as well to that sort of drivel as he could to the cooler Mod sounds. In an earlier message I was kidding on that I taught wee Ped Smith all he knew about dancing, but I think in reality Ped took a lot of the steps used by Jason and changed them slightly. That was in the Scene club days before the more Northern soul style dancing I may add.
