I feel I have very little to add to this, as i know very little about the Blue Beat artists, but I do love to listen to Blue Beat, it's just got that early feel to it, if that makes any sense. Great tune Stevie, thanks for sharing it with us.

Ye already heard it - rab mcnamara played it off a 7" vinyl at ska sunday - I know a company who does one off 7" records. Done the mix and they cut it - 1 for me & 1 for rab.
Aint exactly mod music (what is?) but it is ska with a twist. I'll send you & jimmy a copy over t'intnet.
I'll give ye all the Irn Bru Glass Cheques ye want!!

What posting that wee ska remix i done charlie - "The Blair Mix Project".
A fusion of Bob Marley, Prince Buster, Leftfield & Primal Scream all done to a 4/4 kick wi a bit of vhs video vintage 60's "This Is Jamaican Ska" intro thrown in.

I hope you were not going through you collection of 'Classic Grand' videos last night Charlie.

Have a wee listen to the Lord Kitchener record NG. The lyrics are incredible even for to day, never mind 1963 or 64. That is one of the records in the Mods book that I did not manage to get a hold of, but I do have it on a Mod Trojan CD.

Thats one of the very few Ska records that I still retain Chris, Lord Kitchener, not aware of the lyrics, but I know the vinyl is in top notch condition.

Wheres Charlie ? has he forgot to set his alarm clock again ? haha

I have been racking my brain for a Ska song with a SS connection, but it is not so easy NG. I will have to look through my collection I think.

On a slight side note, has anyone ever heard a more risque song than the Ska classic 'Dr Kitch' by Lord Kitchener. (I think) It is absolutely incredible that such a song was done in the early 1960s. All that stuff about the size of his needle, and pushing it in and out. How in god's name did he get away with that.

You are probably right about what happened to the pork pies Charlie, but what about the hats.

There are so many amazing ska/reggae tracks that it would be difficult to pick even a top ten. I suppose for you EE Mods 'Liquidator' must be up there. For us NG Mods I suppose 'King of Kings' would be apt. There really weren't many Mods from the west end, but for the few they could have 'Skaing West.' I can't at this time think of one for the Gorbals Mods, so over to you Charlie.

Judging by the size of the Scooterist I have seen they have eaten all the Pork Pie Hats Chris, lol! One of my personal fave Reggae tunes "Money In My Pocket" by Dennis Brown, good tune for a rainy day!

Brilliant music Stevie. (I even got it right this time) I absolutely love ska, rocksteady, and early reggae and have more CDs of this genre than you could shake a pork pie hat at. I also have a few original ska records from the early 60s, including 'King of Kings' by Jimmy Cliff, and a couple on the Blue Beat label.

As an aside, what ever happened to pork pie hats. You never even see them, even on e-bay these days.
