Nah, not me, I'm afraid.

The 'altercation' was more like a riot involving mentalists with martial arts sticks and meat wagons !! Can't even remember how it started, but it wasn't a mod thing.

Don't know if you seen my earlier post about the Drifters (or Ben E King) track played at Afterglow? I would start a thread but being a technophobe don't know how. Am getting totally obsessed, so all help appreciated!

Well, are you the Stevie K whose in some of our photos (in the Mod Hairstyles one with the 'french crop')? - your sister used to hang about with us sometimes.

It wasn't much of an altercation outside Hollywood Studios - involved £5 - and it was all sorted afterwards (except my nose which has given me gip ever since!).

Don't think so! I was at school in Paisley and was involved in an 'altercation' outside Hollywood studio but i don't remember breaking anyone's nose! Was this about 1988?

It wasn't the excellent 'I'll take you where the music's playing' but very similar in style. I'm now wondering if it was by one of the 'copy' bands of that era, but if it's a copy it's a good one. It's been in my head for weeks, I wish I could remember some of the lyric though, would make the search much easier! One bonus has been listening to some of the mid sixties Drifters stuff for the first time in years, I forgot how good it was! Thanks again.

No it's not 'I got to pay my dues'. It's an older number, I'd guess from the time of 'At the club', circa '63 or'64, lots of horns, with (I think) Johhny Moore singing. Thanks anyway Charlie.

I was saying only last night that wee Colin had his mad moments, and I most certainly remember Johnny Kid and Deprivates getting airplay, so I would not be surprised if he did play other mad stuff that I have wiped from my memory disk. Don't want to spoil the party, Colin played "I'm The One" by Gerry And The Pacemakers one night in The Scene Club, I was dancing to it, fool that I was, but a happy one, lets not forget, we were kids at heart , I was 17 then, always puzzles me when people cringe at a Pacemakers song, but sing their hearts out and weep at his most famous Football song???? Very mysterious puzzle, ha ha!!

Maybe he played it one night as a dare Stevie. But I would like to think that the original would be preferred to the crap rip off version. I certainly remember 100% clearly the other Contous classic (First I Look at the Purse) being very big in both the Scene Club and the Lindella.

I have been out shopping for DIY crap. Exciting stuff such as draught excluders and paint brushes that go into strange nooks and crannys. I am hoping to have the place looking the part by the end of the weekend, and after that I may even let people in for a cuppa.

Forgotten what ? I have referred to so many songs that I do indeed forget which one's Lammy is referring to. I imagine it may be the Brian Poodle and the Tremblers version of 'Do You Love Me.' I can't recall it being played in the Scene but Charlie can. But, as I have said before, I could well (A) Have been the worse for wear, or (B) Ran out of the place screeming the second I heard it coming on Li Li !

Louie Louie was a fav in The Scene Club for defo, I don't recall the tunes Chris refers to below though, but if you give me the full titles and artists, i will look them up on You Tube, to see if I recall them.
